    Exclamation Nervous about root canal

    Hi

I have been told by my dentist that my fang tooth needs a root canal filling because it has developed chronic infection. I have never had root canal treatment before and speaking to some friends, they say there is a lot of pain involved with root canal fillings.

I know that I need to have this procedure done, because I cant lose my fang tooth but at the same time I'm not very good at tolerating teeth pain, so could you tell me if there is a way of having root canal done painlessly?

    Smile Nervous about root canal

    Hello Noel,

    Thank you for your post.

At Pearl we do everything possible to ensure root canal treatment is painless. We offer Wand painless injections so the initial numbing process is painless. Full and deep anesthesia is achieved before starting the treatment. Our dentists also offer treatment under IV sedation. The IV sedation is provided by experienced medically qualified anesthetist. With sedation you are unaware of the treatment being carried out and you are relaxed by the medication.

Root canal treatment on a tooth with chronic infection is generally painless and the treatment on a fang tooth is not very complicated and can be completed in 1 or 2 visits.

Generally people become nervous when the dentist informs them they need a root canal. In most cases root canal is completed with little or no teeth pain. Please contact the practise and book a check-up and we can assess this fang tooth.
