Can I smoke after root canal treatment?

Hello

I had root canal treatment done yesterday and I was warned that I might have pain from my tooth afterwards but so far, I have had no pain at all from the tooth and the tooth feels completely normal.

I forgot to ask the dentist, if I can smoke after root canal treatment or not? If I smoke now, could it do any harm to the root canal filling?

Thank you for your question.

Smoking once the root canal treatment has been completed as you indicate in your question does not affect or damage the root canal but it would be our recommendation that you should not smoke as smoking has many harmful effects and is a well known carcinogenic. So possibly there are a lot of other good reasons for stop smoking (one of the best reasons is possibly the amount of money save with not smoking!)
