    Unhappy pain after root canal

    Hi

I had root canal work done by my local dentist three days ago. My tooth used to hurt before the root canal work and still hurts even now. The pain is less than it used to be but is still there.

How can there be pain from the tooth when the nerve has been removed? Can you explain to me if this is a normal thing or is it a sign of problems with the root canal.

Thumbs up pain after root canal

    Dear Sara

After root canal treatment there can be some pain and discomfort. We usually recommend using Neurofen (as long as no allergies or medical problems exist) to reduce the pain. The pain is caused by the inflammation that's created during root canal treatment and can take a good few days to settle down fully.

So at this early stage I would not be worried about the situation, if the pain persists you need to go back to see your dentist for further investigation.
