Root Canal/Tooth Removal

I had a root canal done on a molar in Oct/Nov then unfortunately couldn't have the final filling completed due to a DVT.

7 months after spending a lot of money on the root canal i had to have the tooth removed due to an infection under the same tooth. Is this normal?

I cant comment on your case specifically, because I have not seen your xrays and don't know all the facts about your case.

However, generally speaking as soon as root canal treatment is completed, it should have a permanent filling inserted over it and within a few weeks a crown fitted. Some dentists even do a crown as soon as the root canal is completed. The reason why a good permanent filling or crown needs to be placed immediately is that the coronal seal of a root filled tooth is very important for its success and without an excellent coronal seal, there can be bacterial leakage which can lead to root canal failure.
