Partially root filled tooth

Hi

I had my left molar tooth root filled abroad about a year ago and the tooth has been hurting ever since it was done. I came to see my NHS dentist here in the UK who recommended that the tooth should be removed because it has only been partially root filled. Although the tooth is causing pain from time to time, I prefer to keep it if possible because I think I will have chewing problems if this tooth is removed. Can you please tell me if there is any other treatments possible for a partially root filled tooth?

With partially root filled teeth it might be possible to redo the root filling to improve the situation. Sometimes failed root fillings have so many problems that an extraction would be better but it might be possible to redo the root filling and save the tooth.
