Why there is still pain after removing the tooth pulp?

Hello

I saw my dentist for root canal treatment on Thursday and he did the first bit of root canal treatment on my tooth on that visit. He told me that he has removed the tooth pulp but I am still having pain from the tooth even though the pulp of the tooth has been supposedly removed. I still have to go back to see my dentist for the second bit of root canal treatment. But I dont understand why I am still having toothache if the pulp of the tooth has been removed?

Post-operative pain after root canal stage one could be due to some residual nerve tissue still being present in the root canal or it could be caused by inflammation caused by root canal treatment or it could be due to trauma caused by the isolation clamps. It can even be caused by infection that has not been fully drained out yet.

If the pain persists, go back and see your dentist to see if the cause can be identified and treated if necessary.
