Question How much time should I leave between root canal stage 1 and root canal stage 2?

    Hi

Yesterday I was in a lot of pain and came in last night and had root canal stage 1 carried out by your emergency dentist and the pain stopped as soon as he numbed the tooth and later on when the anaesthetic wore off, the pain did not return.

I called my own dentist today to book the second stage root canal and the receptionist said that she is on honeymoon leave for 4 weeks. Now the emergency dentist told me that I should have root canal second stage done one week after the first stage was carried out.

Could I leave the tooth as it for 4 weeks or can that cause any problems? What period of time do you recommend that I leave between my root canal first stage and second stage?

If I come to see your dentists for the second stage root canal treatment, can I see my own dentist for the crown that the tooth needs once she comes back from holiday?

Smile How much time should I leave between root canal stage 1 and root canal stage 2?

I usually recommend waiting 7 days between first stage and second stage root canal treatment. Waiting a long time between first stage and second stage root canal treatment may result in the temporary filling deteriorating and leaking and resulting in new infection as well as risk of tooth fracture.

You can see us for the second stage treatment and go back to your own dentist for the crown. I cant speak for your dentist and say that she would be happy with that situation, you can always call the practice and ask them if that route is OK with them.
