Hi
I had a root canal filling done by my NHS dentist around 6 months ago on my top molar tooth. The tooth has been hurting on and off for the past few months whenever I put any pressure on it during eating.
Recently I saw my dentist again and he recommended that I have a crown placed on top of the tooth to stop it from breaking down. However I am worried that the tooth has not fully settled down yet and might cause problems for me after the crown is fitted.
I read on the internet that a root canal filling that still hurts after a few months, might have failed and might need to be redone. Is this the case?
Is it normal for a root filled tooth to be still hurting six months after the root canal filling is done? Do you think I should have this tooth capped at this point or wait longer to see if the pain stops?
