    Smile Protruding teeth

    Hi

I have two upper front protruding teeth that look awful and I have decided that I want them to be aligned with the rest of my teeth.

I spoke to my dentist but he does not do Invisalign or cosmetic dentistry and he suggested that I see an orthodontist. The orthodontist said that he could use brace treatment to correct these protruding teeth but he also gave me the option of seeing another dentist for a consultation regarding veneers.

I am not very keen on veneers, because I don't want my teeth to be shaved down for veneers and I am worried that they will become sensitive if they are shaved down. I thought that maybe Invisalign could be used to bring these protruding teeth into a more straight line. Do you think Invisalign could work and if so, how long would it take?

    Smile Protruding teeth

    Hello Hana,

Thank you for your post. Invisalign is effective at straightening upper front protruding teeth. We would need to see you for a consultation and assessment to confirm if you are suitable for invisalign. Consultations are free and available evenings and weekends at Pearl.

There are a number of ways to straighten protruding teeth. The arch can be widened and this creates the space necessary for straightening the teeth. If space is present the front teeth are tipped back into this space and straightened and aligned. If no space is present, superficial interproximal reduction can be done in order to retract the front teeth. Alternatively an orthodontist can place fixed braces and move the back teeth further back and create room for straightening the front teeth.

The average invisalign case takes 1 year to complete. Simple cases can be completed much quicker and the complex cases can take 1-2 years to complete. After assessing your teeth we can estimate how long your treatment will take and the clincheck video also gives a good indication.
