    Talking Lingual braces

    Hi

I have crooked front teeth and I have been to see an orthodontist and he has recommended lingual braces to straighten my teeth. He also gave me the option of normal metal braces but there is no way that I could have that on my teeth.

He was saying that the lingual braces are more discreet than normal braces but they will still make my teeth feel lumpy on the inside because thats were they will be putting the lingual braces.

I would like to know if lingual braces are removable or not? If invisalign is removable and lingual braces are not removable by myself, I would rather go for Invisalign so that I can remove them whenever I go to a meeting or a party.

    Smile Lingual braces

    Dear Jocelyn,

    Thank you for your post.

Lingual braces are fixed with cement to the back of the teeth and this technique to straighten teeth is offered by only some orthodontists.

Invisalign is suitable for most cases and only a consultation can determine if you are suitable for invisalign. Consultations are free at Pearl and we can offer you one even on late evenings and weekends.

The benefits of invisalign over metal braces are many. Invisalign aligners are removable so you can remove them for special occasions. Invisalign is nearly invisible so the rest of the time people can't notice you are wearing it. Invisalign is more comfortable than normal braces. Compared to lingual braces for example maintaining good oral hygiene is much easier with invisalign. You can also eat all your favourite foods with invisalign, provided you remove them before eating.

    Smile Lingual braces

    Hello Jocelyn,

Lingual braces are custom made braces which are fixed to the back of the teeth making them less invisible. Braces are formed of two parts generally; the brackets and the arch wires.

With lingual braces the brackets are cemented onto the back side of the teeth. With standard braces the brackets are cemented onto the front side of the teeth. Lingual braces are a cosmetic alternative to those who do not wish to have the metal look but wish to improve their smile with fixed braces.

At Pearl Dental Clinic we believe Invisalign is better than fixed braces for correcting malaligned teeth and giving you that beautiful smile. Most people are suitable for invisalign and we currently offer this system to your patients.
