Can I swim wearing Invisalign braces?

Hi

I am a keen swimmer, I swim probably four or five times a week to keep fit. I am considering getting Invisalign invisible braces to straighten and whiten my teeth.

I would like to know if its possible to swim with Invisalign braces? Because I have read that the aligners should be worn for 22 hours a day and I probably swim for 1-2 hours a day, so if I remove them whilst I am swimming would that affect my invisalign treatment?

Hello Matilda,

There is no reason why you should remove the aligners for swimming. The aligners should only be removed for eating, drinking and cleaning your teeth.

The aligners should be worn for a minimum of 22hours a day. If this is not the case then the effectiveness of the aligners will be reduced which can result in a less than ideal result.

I suggest you always wear your aligners during swimming. Enjoy the swimming.
