    Talking Crooked teeth

    HI

I wonder if you could help me, I suffer from a crooked smile mainly caused by crooked teeth which means that when I smile the middle of my top teeth is not in line with the middle of my top lip.

When I was younger, my dentist removed one of my front teeth because the front teeth were so crooked that the tooth had decayed and he had to remove it because I got infection in that tooth.

I would like to make my smile much more attractive by getting my teeth straightened and perhaps get that lost tooth replaced with a bridge or an implant? Are you able to provide this sort of treatment at Pearl dental clinic?

    Red face Crooked teeth

    Hello Nakita,

    Thank you for your post.

When one tooth is removed from the arch due to its position then a dental midline shift often occurs and the patients smile is off to one side of their face and is not symmetrical. This is an unattractive appearance and can effect a persons confidence.

The ideal treatment in such cases is to re-open the space lost with fixed braces and to place a replacement tooth either an implant crown or bridge. This reestablishes the smile midline with the middle of the upper lip and the symmetry of the smile. This result can be difficult to achieve and can take many years.

The alternative treatment is to shift the teeth round and correct the midline and then correct the symmetry with veneers as the teeth are likely to have different shapes. If the midline shift is mild then invisalign braces can correct this. For moderate to severe dental midline shifts fixed braces will be required.

The final treatment option you have is to correct the midline shift and asymmetry with veneers. We would need to assess your case and discuss your treatment options in more detail. Invisalign consultations are free at Pearl.
