Can Invisalign fix crammed teeth?

I have terribly crammed teeth and the problem is I am ashamed to smile because of that. I asked my dentist if I could have veneers, but he advised me the best treatment for me would be the orthodontic one. I would like to have Invisalign, but I am not sure if it can straighten badly crammed teeth.
