What different types of Invisalign retainers are availble for my teeth?

Hi

I am almost finished with my Invisalign treatment and my dentist had mentioned that after he has finished the refinement my treatment will be finished and I will need to start wearing a metal retainer behind my teeth.

I would like to know if there are any other non-metal invisalign retainers available because I don't think I would like to have a metal retainer stuck behind my teeth which will prevent me from being able to floss my teeth.

He says that I could have a removable retainer but if I don't wear it, my teeth will start to move back to how they were before I had my treatment. So I would be grateful if you could tell me what different types of invisalign retainers are available?

Following any form of orthodontic treatment it is very important to have some form of retainer to maintain the final position of your teeth. Retainers can be fixed, removable or both.

At Pearl we advise a removable plastic retainer and this should be worn full time for 6 months and then night times. Following the invisalign treatment and completion of invisalign refinement if necessary a removable plastic retainer will be given to you. We do not like to use metal retainers as these can effect your cleaning and gum health and also they can debond and need repairing.

Invisalign offer a standard removable invisalign retainer and also vivera retainers. Both these retainers are very durable and effective at preventing your teeth relapsing. There is a also a vivera retainer program which gives you 3 sets of retainers at a very reasonable price. During the invisalign consultation the dentist will discuss which retainer will be given as part of the total invisalign treatment cost.
