rotten baby tooth

Hello

My 8 year old has a rotten baby tooth at the back of her mouth. It is niggling and so I think we need to do something about it sooner.

This would be the first time she needs dental work done and I’m very worried she won’t be able to tolerate dental treatment at her age. Also will her adult tooth be affected? Please advise.

Thank you for your question.

It is very unlikely that her adult tooth underneath the baby tooth to be affected unless there is severe infection. My best suggestion to you would be to bring your daughter for assessment. This will have the benefit us clinically assess the tooth and see what type of treatment is needed and also give a chance for dentist and patient to get familiar with each other.
It would be much easier to provide your daughter with treatment if she gets to now her dentist and start to have trust in him or her. Once this trust is established then the treatment is easily done and can be completed in no time.
