Extreme receding gums

Hi i dont know if me posting on here will get me the help i need but worth a try i guess.

Over the past few years my gums are receding massivly, So much so that i have lost my lover front 2 teeth and you can almost see the root of the teeth surrounding where the loss of my teeth has taken place.
I recently visited a dentist who quoted that it was the worst case of receeding gums he has ever seen.
I do have good general dental hygene so i am so confused as to why this is happening to me, I am only 24!
I am not in a financial situation to pay 1000s of pounds out to have the treatment that he said i would need due to me leaving my job because of my depression i am suffering from through the way i feel about myself having such horrible teeth.

I was just wondering of anybody knew if there was treatment available on the nhs or there are others ways of funding the treatment i require because the desese is at its most severe now and the gum is almost at the floor of my mouth.

If anybody could guide me into the arms of somebody who can help me it really would change my life. i hope somebody can help!!!!!

From what you describe, it sounds like you need specialist periodontist (gum specialist) care. Gum specialist care is not cheap but probably critical in your case.

The only option that comes to my mind, is perhaps asking your dentist to refer you to a teaching hospital for gum treatment by consultants and postgraduates. They do have waiting lists and may not necessarily accept your case but worth a try I guess.
