Post Hairline crack within my tooth

    Hi

I have a molar tooth on the bottom right that aches constantly when I put pressure on the tooth or eat anything slightly hard on that tooth.

My dentist has seen the tooth and suggests that it might have a hairline crack within that tooth which is causing pain when I eat certain foods on that tooth. My dentist suggests that I have a crown on that tooth.

Could you tell me if a tooth hairline fracture can be fixed in any other way other than a crown. Because a crown costs £700 and I just cant afford that sort of cost at the moment. Is there a cheaper or simpler option available?

Cool Hairline crack within my tooth

    Thank you for your post.

A hairline crack within a tooth needs to be assessed and sometimes a crown is the best solution for the tooth. The vitality of the tooth will need to be assessed and if non-vital, the tooth will need a root filling before a crown.

In some situations its possible to use adhesive white fillings to cover the hariline crack but you may find that the tooth fractures with this approach due to there being no cuspal protection.

Crowns at Pearl dental clinic range in cost from around £400-£600 and we do offer 0% finance to those who wish to use that facility.
