    Question Bottom partial denture

    Hi

I have a bottom jaw partial denture that was fitted about 6 months ago and it has been a problem since it was fitted on my teeth.

When I am eating, it lifts up and food traps underneath it and I have to bring it out to remove the food from underneath it and it makes me speak differently to how I used to speak before I had the denture fitted.

Could you tell me, if there is anyway that I could make this denture not move up and down when I am eating and also a little bit less bulky so that my speech would be unaffected by it.

    Lightbulb Bottom partial denture

Bottom partial dentures can be made more retentive by the additional of small metal clasps that clamp around the neighbouring teeth and help to keep the denture in.

Alternatively a valplast denture can be made and this type of denture is very retentive because it moulds itself to your jaw anatomy and usually stays in your mouth much better than plastic dentures without clasps.
