I would like a telescopic denture

Hi

I have read that there is a type of denture called a telescopic denture that stays in the mouth better than normal dentures and is a much better solution than plastic dentures.

I currently have a denture that floats all over the place in my mouth and I have great difficulty in keeping the denture in my mouth. So I have decided that the solution would be to get a telescopic denture made. Do you provide telescopic dentures at Pearl and how long does it take to have one made?

Thank you for your question.

Telescopic denture are very common in some European countries like Germany. However they are not very often used in this country and not many dental labs here know how to make them and very likely labs in the Germany have to be used.

But one has to remember the way these dentures work is that whatever teeth are present in the mouth are first drilled and prepared so some gold coping are placed on them and then the denture sits on top of these caped teeth and hence the better retention. But one has to remember that there is a need for natural teeth to be present in the first place to be able to have telescopic dentures and from your question I do not feel as there are any teeth left in your mouth and if not then alternative options like implant retained dentures may need to be considered.
