    Question Advanced gum disease

    Hi

I have been told that I suffer from advanced gum disease probably due to me smoking 20 cigarettes a day for the past ten years. My dentist says that unless I stop smoking, I will probably lose many teeth pretty soon.

Could you tell me what I should be doing to deal with this advanced gum problem? I am not even 30 yet and I am worried that in a few years, I will be having to wear plates. Can you tell me how gum disease can be stopped.

    Thank you

    Default Advanced gum disease

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

If you have such an advanced form of gum disease or periodontal disease at such a young age, you need serious professional help and the help of periodontists which are specialist dealing with these conditions.
I am pleased to say that we have a periodontist in our team at pearl dental clinic and would be very happy to examine and treat your condition. But as dentist has mentioned one important step in controlling your disease is for you to stop smoking.
