Replacing old crowns

I have six front crowns which were placed probably about 25 years ago and over the last few years my gums have receded and now you can see a black line around the crowns near the gums which shows when I smile.

I don't have gum disease but my dentist says that the gum recession has been caused by me brushing too hard. I have decided now, that I want to replace these old crowns with new cosmetic crowns.

I would like to know which type of crown would be the most cosmetic crown to have for my front teeth? What's the procedure for getting new crowns? What would I have whilst the new crowns are being made?

Thank you for your question.

The best type of cosmetic crowns are metal free crowns and the procedure will involve the removal of the old crowns and some minor adjustments to the teeth. Then impressions taken and sent to the lab for the new crowns to be made. In the mean while you will have some temporary crowns till you new crowns are fitted.
