    Question My dentures look false

    Hi

I had a complete pair of top and bottom dentures fitted today and I have been trying to use them and get used to them. There are a couple of issues with them and I would be grateful if you could help me.

One the dentures look false, my natural teeth were never this white and straight. I am worried that when I go out, everyone will be aware that they are false teeth because they are so different to my own teeth. Can anything be done to make them more natural?

Secondly, these dentures keeping flapping up and down in my mouth and I find it hard to eat with them in my mouth. How I can stop them from being so loose.

    Default My dentures look false

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

In short what I can say is welcome to the world of dentures. Having said that you only have had the denture for a day. Sometimes it takes a good few weeks or may be even longer to get use to denture and to learn how to use them. what i mean by this is that the retention of dentures is not just the attachment of the denture to the gum, which can be improved by means of adhesives, but also the retention that be will be created by the facial muscles subconsciously and this is the part that will take time.

With regard to the appearance of the teeth, if you are not happy then the only solution is to replace the teeth or modify them in cases where possible. This means your denture may have to back to the lab or to be remade..
