The crown is the wrong colour

I had a crown fitted on my front tooth by my dentist last week and now whenever I look at the crown in the mirror, I feel that obviously the colour of the dental crown is wrong.

My dentist told me that the rest of my teeth will eventually become darker and thats why I chose this colour for my crown but now I regret having such a dark crown. Whenever I smile I know people notice the crown and would like to know what can be done to whiten the colour of the crown.

One website suggests that teeth whitening will whiten my crown? I thought that this is not possible, what are your thoughts on this?

Teeth whitening only whitens natural teeth. Teeeth whitening can not whiten fillings, crowns and veneers. To have a whiter crown, you will need to have it remade perhaps this time with the shade taken at a cosmetic lab so that it can be matched better with the neighbouring teeth.

Please be aware that shade matching a single front crown to the natural teeth around it, is one of the most difficult procedures in cosmetic dentistry and you may find that the shade match is not 100% right.
