Bad gums

Hi

My gums bleed when I brush them and recently the bleeding has become even worst than normal. I am currently trying mouthwash several times a day but my gums still bleed frequently.

I am worried that the condition of my gums are getting worst and might mean that I will lose my teeth eventually. Do you know how I can improve my bad gums so that they can become better than they are?

I have tried to floss my teeth but I cant get on with it because its very difficult to floss around my back teeth. Is there a special mouthwash that you recommend for my gums?

Thank you for your question.

One of the commonest causes for bleeding gum or as you put it bad gums is the build up of plaque and calculus that can be subgingival or supragingival. You will not be able to remove these by yourself and you need professional help from either dentist or a hygienist. There is not a mouthwash that is a substitute for good scale and polishing which is the minimum you need.

There are many tools available these days that can help you with the flossing but you need to come and see us so we can advise on the best option for you.
