    Cool Gummy smile

    Hi

I have a problem that my teeth are very small and when I smile I show a lot of my gums. I hate my gummy smile and would like my teeth to be longer and more visible and my gums to be less visible when I smile.

I would like to know if there is any treatment for my gummy smile. I know I could have veneers, but I suppose I would still show a lot of my gums when I smile if I have veneers. Is there a way that I could have less gum showing when I smile and more of my teeth showing.

    Smile Gummy smile

    Hi

Thank you for your post. Gummy smile correction can be done with a diode dental laser if minor gum recontouring is necessary. If more gum needs to be removed, then in order not to violate the biological width, crown lengthening becomes necessary.

Crown lengthening essentially involves removing some bone from around the tooth and repositioning the gum further away from the crown of the tooth. This then allows the crown of the tooth to have a longer veneer and become longer looking for those who wish to show more tooth and less gum when they smile.

At Pearl dental clinic we carry out both diode laser gum recontouring and crown lengthening surgery to correct gummy smiles.
