Hi
I have been wearing a pink plastic denture for the past 12 years after I lost two of my teeth through infection. My denture is now becoming worn down and stained and I would like to have it replaced with a new denture. I wonder if you could tell me what types of dentures are available these days. I am sure there must have been some technology advances in the past few years and I am hoping that there might be some better types of dentures available these days. |

Thank you for your post.
There are several different types of dentures available these days that may be suitable for your case. Classically, we still have the acrylic denture which is probably the one you already have. Its a good denture to add teeth to in future and reasonably cheap to make. Then we have the cobalt chrome metal denture which is thinner than the acrylic denture and doesn't need to cover the roof of the mouth. So in the case of the upper denture, allows you to taste your food more than the acrylic denture. We also now have the Valplast denture which moulds itself around the soft and hard tissues of the jaw and provides excellent retention. This one is probably the most expensive denture type.
