    Exclamation Gum disease treatment

    Hello

I have not seen a dentist in over 20 years due to fear and anxiety caused by some bad experiences in the dental chair many years ago.

I have noticed over the last few months that my gums bleed when I brush my teeth. My wife tells me that I must have gum disease and she is insisting that I see a dentist for gum disease treatment.

Could you tell how is gum disease treated and if the treatment is quick and painless or not.

    Smile Gum disease treatment

Gum disease treatment starts with full case assessment and recording of your gum status with charts and xrays. Its followed by showing you where the areas of gum damage are in your mouth and demonstrating to you methods of cleaning your teeth and gums to a better standard.

Gum treatment then involves deep gum cleaning usually under local Anaesthetic of every tooth in your mouth and cleaning the root surfaces so that no bacteria and plaque remain below the gum.

You are then reassessed around 2 months later and any residual areas of disease is again treated. Gum treatment is painless but has no quick fixes.
