    Question Gum assessment

    Hi

My gums bleed when I brush my teeth and this has got worst recently. I would like to have a gum assessment as soon as possible and have any treatment that I need before I go on holiday.

Can you tell me what is involved in gum assessment and if there is any pain involved? Will my gums bleed after the assessment and what sort of gum treatment will I need?

    Lightbulb Gum assessment

    Hi

Thank you for your post. During a gum assessment we usually first take a medical and dental history. This is then followed by an examination of your teeth and gums. We measure tooth mobility, gum recession, pocket depths, furcation involvements and assess the restorations a tooth may have.

We may also take X-rays if needed. Gum assessment is painless. Your gums may bleed a bit after the assessment but usually stops soon afterwards. Gum treatment depends on the case and may be non-surgical and surgical. To tell you what sort of gum treatment you will need, we would need to see you first for a gum assessment.
