    Question Sensitive teeth

    Hi

I have receding gums that have caused my teeth to become very sensitive and recently my sensitive teeth have become worst. I have switched my toothpaste to sensodyne but my teeth are still very sensitive when I eat and drink cold foods and drinks. I cant things like eat ice cream anymore because of the severe sensitivity.

Is there anything that can be done to make my sensitive teeth less sensitive on a permanent basis?

    Post Sensitive teeth

    Hi

Thank you for your post. If you suffer from tooth sensitivity and have tried using sensodyne toothpaste, there are a few options still open to you.

You could try applying small amounts of sensodyne toothpaste to the teeth that are most sensitive and leaving it on the tooth through the night.

If this did not work, you could try having composite (white) filling coverage of the exposed root surfaces. This will usually reduced the sensitivity as the root dentine will no longer be exposed to stimuli such as cold drinks.
