    Red face Cosmetic dentistry bonding

    Hi

I have gaps between my teeth which have always bothered me and I try to hide them by not smiling on photos. Recently I have heard that these gaps between my teeth could be closed with cosmetic dentistry bonding.

I know I could have porcelain veneers or orthodontics but I really cant afford that sort of cosmetic treatment. I would like to know if cosmetic dental bonding could close the gaps between my teeth and if so, how long does it usually take to do and how long does it last?

Could having dental bonding done do any damage to my teeth? Do my teeth need to be shaved down for these bondings to be placed on them? Could they cause any long term problems for my teeth?

    Talking Cosmetic dentistry bonding

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

Cosmetic bonding or as we call them composite veneers are one of the safest, easiest, most cost effective and most conservative way to improve ones smile. They are not always suitable for every situation but they can be a very good solutiuon for the kind of gaps you have mentioned. Really you must be seen and assessed before we can tell you for sure but I can tell you that I have done this for many patients in our practice with instant result. There are many photos of these in our gallery photos so you can see it for yourself to see what can be achieved with composite or bonding veneers. Depending on complexity of the case, it usually does not take long to do these veneers and they are completed in one visist (hence the instant result).

Composite veneers last a long time and they are repairable (unlike porcelain veneers). Their biggest disadvantage is that they can stain over time but it is easy to either polish or replace them. In 99% of the time there is no need to remove any tooth tissue and no drilling of the teeth. Aesthetically they are not always as good as porcelain veneers but if used in the right situation, the results can just as good as with porcelain veneers. Again the best way to explain them is to see the photos of some of the cases we have done.
