    Unhappy Tooth Wear

I have worn down my teeth over years and unfortunately many of my teeth have become very short and small or chipped and broken. I have been told that I need to wear dentures soon if my tooth wear carries on in this and I really hate the thought of having to wear dentures.

Can you tell me what treatment options other than extraction of my teeth and dentures are open to me at this point? Is my tooth wear likley to get worst or can it be reversed?

    Wink Tooth Wear

    Thank you for your post.

There are many different types of tooth wear that have different management and treatment options.

The cause of tooth wear needs to be first identified and treated and prevention of further tooth wear can only be effective if the cause is fully understood. Once the cause(s) are identified prevention is in place, then treatment can begin.

The treatment of tooth wear varies from composite buildups, crowns, dentures and sometimes even implants and bridges. You will really need to see your dentist for a customised plan for your tooth wear.
