Can I have Laser teeth cleaning?

Hi

My teeth are very stained because I drink a lot of coffee when I am at work. I see my local hygienist every 6 months and she cleans my teeth with her instuments and they look very good for a few weeks. But after a few weeks the coffee stains come back on my teeth and look very bad again.

I wanted to know if I could have laser teeth cleaning rather than hygienist cleaning every 6 months? Is the laser teeth cleaning likely to give me longer lasting stain free periods?

Thank you for your post. Cleaning teeth is conventionally carried out with hygiene instruments that remove stains and plaque from all the surfaces of teeth. Lasers or UV lights are generally used in teeth whitening to improve the shade of the outside surface of teeth.

So if your dentist has recommended 6 monthly hygienist visits to clean your teeth, you should continue with that regime in order to keep your gums healthy.

If additionally you wish to whiten your teeth to change the shade of your teeth, you should consider laser teeth whitening or home teeth whitening.

Laser teeth whitening is not a substitute for hygienist teeth cleaning as laser teeth whitening does nothing to improve the gum condition.
