    Smile Mercury free dentistry

I would like your opinion regarding changing my silver fillings to white fillings. I have a few silver fillings that I have had for many years but recently I have whitened my teeth and these silver fillings are looking very dark and unsightly.

I would like to know if there are any risks or could there be any problems with changing my silver fillings to white mercury free fillings at this stage. I am going to have mercury free dentistry from now on but don't know what to do with my current mercury silver fillings.

    Cool Mercury free dentistry

    Hi

We can certainly change your silver fillings to mercury free white fillings on cosmetic grounds if you wish.

Removing silver fillings sometimes reveals decay and cracks within the tooth underneath the fillings which may not be obvious without the removal of the silver fillings and these decay and cracked areas can be treated if found.

Changing silver fillings to white fillings can sometimes cause tooth sensitivity, which usually settles down after a while.

I try to practice Mercury free dentistry as much as possible, not so much on health grounds but more on cosmetic grounds.
