    Cool Secure dentures

    Hello

I have been wearing dentures now for almost five years. I find that my bottom denture does not feel very secure and constantly moves around the place in my mouth.

I would like to know why my top denture is a more secure denture but my bottom denture feels so loose? Both of the dentures were made at the same time, so its surprising why the bottom one is so much looser than the top denture?

I have tried using denture glue to make my denture more secure but its very messy and the glue spreads all over the place and I need to keep putting new glue on my denture whenever I go outside. Afterwards I usually spend a long time trying to remove denture glue from my mouth.

I would like to know what I should do to have more secure dentures? Do I need to have new lower denture made?

    Thank you for your post.

I assume that you are talking about complete top and lower dentures. In that case, top full dentures generally stay in better than lower full dentures because they have a better seal around the margin of the top denture. Lower dentures do not have a seal and also get hit with the tongue, lips and cheek tissues. So lower dentures are generally much looser than top dentures.

You will need to see a dentist to assess your denture. If your lower denture is well designed, then having a new one made, may not make much of a difference to the retention of the denture. If its well designed, then maybe the only way to increase the retention would be to have implants placed and have a lower implant overdenture. Otherwise if its poorly designed, you may benefit from just having a new lower denture made.
