Default Crown which has had the enamel chipped off

I have a number of crowns and I have one particular tooth, which is on the bottom right behind the eye tooth that has a damaged crown. The crown is sound according to my dentist. I definitely do not have pain or any discomfort. It has however lost all of the enamel and now just the steel is showing. I wouldn't mind so much, except that it shows when i smile and i find it very unattractive. Can a crown be re-enameled? Or would I need to have a whole new crow made.

    Hi

    Thank you for your post.

A chipped porcelain fused to metal crown can be repaired but the repair of these crowns is not long lasting and it can come off easily. The cost of repeatedly repairing a chipped crown can become greater than having a new crown and since you find it very unattractive I recommend a new crown. At Pearl we offer high strength all ceramic crowns which have far better aesthetics than porcelain fused to metal crowns.
