Terrible teeth

Hello

I have terribble teeth I have 8 on the top where the two front are like scissor cut and 11 on the botton so I have no back teeth apart from 1 right at the back three on the top also are not aligned I do regularly go to the dentist every 6 months for check ups unfortunately my teeth are as they are through not being taken to dentist when i was younger I have enquired about a plate but my dentist says he cannot do anything about the straightning I really would like my teeth done but I am so frightned of the thought of false teeth and afraid every time I go is there any hope of getting my teeth straight at the top front and having a plate as I have a gap on right side when I smile please help?
