Do flexible dentures have metal hooks?

Hi

I currently have a metal denture for my four missing top front teeth and my denture has got some metal hooks which show when I smile. My dentist says if he removes the metal hooks, my denture will not stay in. I wonder if you could kindly tell me if flexible dentures also have metal hooks or some more cosmetic alternative?

Flexible dentures do not have metal hooks like metal dentures instead they have pink or white (tooth coloured) nylon hooks (clasps) which provide them with retention. As the clasps on flexible dentures are tooth coloured, they blend in better with the rest of the teeth and are more discreet.
