Unhappy Do I need to have a gold inlay?

I saw my nhs dentist two weeks ago and he told me that I need a gold inlay on one of my back teeth. He told me that I could have a white filling but it wont be that strong and might break in future. But it seems to me that the gold inlay costs so much more than a white filling and looks so unnatural. I want to know if its possible to have a white filling instead of a gold inlay?

Having not seen your teeth I cant tell you if you need a gold inlay or a white filling and which would be best for your case. If you feel that the gold inlay is unnatural looking then you could ask your dentist for a composite inlay or a porcelain inlay instead. They both look more natural than gold but are still lab made inlays.
