    Smile Nti-tss splint

    Hi

I suffer from early morning headaches and my dentist has made a nightguard for me that I wear at night to stop me from clenching and grinding my teeth.

I find it difficult to wear my nightgaurd because its very big and makes me produce a lot of saliva. I have noticed that you provide Nti-tss splints for your patients and they look to be much smaller than the one that I have. my nightguard covers all my top teeth. Because its so big, most nights I leave it out and don't wear it.

I would like to know how many teeth the Nti-tss covers and can the Nti-tss nighguard stop me from clenching and grinding my teeth and will it be able to stop my headaches.

    Lightbulb Nti-tss splint

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

The Nti splints / nightguards are a form of soft and hard nightguards that is combined together. The first form of guards developed were soft nightguards. Then it was found that they are not very effective and so the hard acrylic nightguards or splints were developed.

Both types were big and althought the hard acrlic ones were more effective in stopping grinding and reducing headache etc.., many patients like yourself found it difficult to wear them. So compliance rate is not as much as one would like it to be. Specially a lot of people have gag reflexes and they really find it difficult to wear large nightguards.

The Nti system is the combination of soft and hard guards so they have the benefits of both systems. Therefore they have a soft inner section placed in the hard outer shell were patients bite on. They ususally cover 2 to 6 teeth on the top front teeth and because they are smaller patients find them much easier to tolerate. They are also much more effective in stopping people from grinding.
