    Post tooth filling too high?

    Hi

I had my very back tooth filled by my dentist last week and since then I feel that the tooth feels higher that it should be and is very uncomfortable when I bite on it. At the time, my dentist did say that he had to remove a lot of tooth because the decay had rotted the tooth badly. I went back to see my dentist yesterday and he filed the filling down a bit which improved things a bit but the filling still feels too high. Also the tooth feels very sensitive when I drink cold water which it did not feel sensitive before the filling was done. Do you think there is something wrong with this filling or do you think it will settle down?

    Exclamation tooth filling too high?

Deep tooth fillings can cause sensitivity for a while before they settle down and need a period of review before any further treatment becomes necessary. If the filling is still proud, you need to see your dentist ASAP for adjustment as a proud filling can fracture or cause pain and may not necessarily settle down by itself.
