    Exclamation Loose top denture

    Hi

I had a top denture made for me by my dentist last week on the NHS and I have been trying to eat with these denture and every time I try to bite with these denture, the denture becomes loose and falls out. I am not sure how this denture is supposed to stay in my mouth being so bulky and it seems to hurt one of my back top teeth when I try to eat with it. I have tried denture glue but it goes all over my mouth and is very messy. Is there anyway of making denture stay in better than it does?

    Wink Loose top denture

    Thank you for your question.

If you have a partial top denture, its possible to improve retention by adding clasps to the denture. Otherwise I am affraid the only other way to improve partial denture retention is to use denture adhesive. If a denture is causing pain on a tooth, it needs to be assessed and the denture eased if necessary.
