    Question Impacted premolars

    Hi

My son is 14 years old and I have taken him to see his dentist every 6 months for the last few years. Recently his dentist has mentioned that my sons premolars are impacted and apparently this is caused by his baby teeth becoming stuck to his bone rather than falling out as they should.

His dentist has recommended that we take him to hospital and have these stuck baby teeth removed. however I rather let them fall out naturally and not put him through the trauma of tooth removal surgery.

Is there a way that these stuck teeth are going to fall out naturally if more time is provided or do they have to be removed. If they need to be removed, is it possible to have the tooth extractions in your clinic rather than the hospital?

    Exclamation Impacted premolars

    Thank you for your question.

If by stuck to the bone you mean that these impacted premolars are ankylosed then in that situation they may need to be removed surgically. We can certainly do these extractions depending on your sons co-operation.

Ankylosed teeth are more difficult to remove and if they have very long roots, then its going to take some surgical time to remove them and for this we need a co-operative patient.
