Hi,
I am 25 years old, and both of my lower canines are showing signs of receeding. I have read on your forums and on many websites that signs of disease can be : 1. Bleeding Gums 2. Sensativity 3. Wobbly Teeth These are not symptoms I am experiencing or have ever experienced. I have read on many sites including yours that bone breaks down (or something similar) and this cannot be fixed. I have read on many other sites that things can be done which allows the gums to grow back naturally. My question is, can this be done? I have no concerns with pain etc, it is purely a cosmetic concern and I want to do everything I can to resolve this sooner rather than later (but not surgery, i saw your pictures) |

Thank you for your post.
With gum recession, the cause of gum recession will have to be determined. If its caused by gum disease, the gum disease will have to be treated. If its caused by over-zelous tooth brushing, the brushing technique will have to be modified. I am not aware of any medication which grows back receded gum. To treat gum recession, you will have to either have gum surgery which can be unpredictable or in some cases veneers (be it composite bonding or porcelain veneers) to mask the gum recession areas on the tooth.
