    Lightbulb Adhesive bridge

    Hi

I have an adhesive bridge on my front teeth that constantly becomes loose when I am eating and I have to put it back in with denture glue. My dentist has stuck it back on my tooth four times this year but the bridge keeps coming loose.

My dentist says that the surrounding teeth are loose and have gum disease and for this reason he does not think there is much point in having a new adhesive bridge made.

He is suggesting getting a denture made but I hate the thought of having a denture and would try anything but a denture in my mouth. Could you tell me what alternative options I have to a denture at this point?

If I do have another adhesive bridge made, do you think it will last? The current adhesive bridge has two metal sides to it, would it be better to have another bridge with one metal side?

    Wink Adhesive bridge

    Thank you for your question.

If your teeth neighbouring this gap have active gum disease, whatever type of restoration you have will not last long term, be it an implant, a denture or a new bridge.

I would suggest that you first seen a periodontist to satablise your gum disease and once the gum disease is stabalised consider a new bridge or an implant if you dont wish to have a denture.

Ahesive bridges can have one wing or two wings, but we tend to do one wing bridges these days, because if one wing debonds on a two wing bridge and you leave it as it is, it could lead to tooth decay. Also one wing bridges can be flossed more easily and dont need superfloss or tepe brushes.
