    Post Worn down dentures

In an accident five years ago, I lost several teeth for which my dentist made me a denture. He replaced the lost teeth with a brand new denture which the dentist wanted me to wear everyday.

Initially I found wearing the denture difficult but after a few weeks and some adjustments by my dentist, I got used to the denture and the denture became much more comfortable. However now after a few years has gone by, the denture teeth have worn down now and its teeth look very short and stumpy.

Now I am worried that the denture teeth will break and leave me with a gap which will show on eating and talking. My dentist has now recommended a new denture but I am worried that the new denture will not be as comfortable as the old denture. Do you have any recommendations?

    Talking Worn down dentures

    Thank you for your post.

Worn down dentures can become an issue for patients both from a functional and aesthetic point of view. I would say that you need to have your current denture examined and checked. There might some good points about your current dentures and these can be copied with the new denture design so that you can adjust to the new dentures more quickly.
