How does Botox work?

Hi

I have several wrinkle lines on my forehead and near my eyes and I have been using anti-wrinkle cream to ease these wrinkles but have had no success.

My friend recommends having a facelift but I really don't want have surgery at this stage in my life (a little scared of that if I am honest). I am worried that surgery will leave me with scars and make things worst.

So I thought maybe botox injections could be a good solution for my problem. How do botox injections work? How long do they last and does botox really work?

Thank you for your question. When Botox is injected into a muscle that creates the wrinkle, it blocks the nerve impulse from reaching that area, and as a result, the muscle weakens.

As the muscle weakens, the skin overlying the muscle relaxes and the wrinkles in the skin gradually soften and often disappear. If a specific muscle can't move, it can't cause a wrinkle.
