Hi, I have nicely shaped white teeth but unfortunately I have brown and yellow staining inbetween my teeth and by the gumline caused by demineralisation - I've tried pretty much everything to remove the stains and my dentist says the only other thing that can be done is drilling the areas and placing composite fillings (I would end up with about 20+ fillings!) and he is not willing to do this anyway.

I don't want to resort to something which will remove healthy enamel from my teeth - does compoite bonding do this? I would consider Durathin if they are possible for me, but I wondered can they be made to the same shape as my natural teeth? I have quite small, rounded lateral incisors and I think they look quite youthful, I dont really want them to be the same length! I'm not after a perfect hollywood smile, just my natural smile back.
Regards

It's not a situation I ever thought I'd have to encounter, but one time I slept over at my then-boyfriend's place, and sharing his toothbrush was the only option. I didn't suffer any ill effects from it, but the thought made me a little uneasy.

Hi, today I had microabrasion on 3 of my upper teeth as a trial, I have pretty healthy teeth but unfortunately a lot of demineralisation. My dentist told me it had made no difference whatsoever and that the only other method to try would be whitening.

I got home and took a look at my teeth in the mirror - there is a definite improvement, although it's not perfect it's so much better. Some of the dark areas have gone.

I'm considering asking whether or not I could continue the treatment, along with whitening. I had a few questions though - how many 'sessions' of microabrasion can you have? I have read articles of people having more than one session of treatment and I want to know if this is possible. Also, can deep bleaching help minimise the appearance of yellowish/white marks?

Many thanks,
I had four teeth pulled when I was younger, and I remember the dentist scraped my cheek with his tool and blood subsequently rushed down my throat. I couldn't do very much about it because I was sedated. It was terrifying.

Which do you prefer?

They say that a spin type brush is better for you because it ensures that you brush for a full 2 minutes, but I think this can easily be monitored on your own. Replacement heads for an automatic toothbrush are expensive, and it's harder to tell whose brush is whose in a shared washroom.

It's confession time: what are your oral care sins? That is to say, what habits do you have that are bad for your teeth?

I drink a lot of diet soda, which is supposedly bad for my enamel (although I've had one dentist tell me it was fine). Sometimes I brush too hard, causing receding gums in a few areas. I also only floss about once per week.

I found its premise to be a little offensive. I understand that they're trying to show how Invisalign compares to regular braces and is so much better, but it comes across as the mom favoring one kid over the other to me.

Hi, I live in Manchester, UK and I am getting married in March 2012 and I would like to have a perfect smile for the cameras (only for that day if possible!). My budget is between £500-£1000 and I am willing to travel to europe if it works out cheaper. I have been looking at several options. Originally I was going to go for the snap-on-smile, however that worked out in total £1800 for the full mouth which I cannot afford. Therefore I am going to forget the bottom teeth for now, and concentrate on my top teeth and my smile.

What do people think are my options? Veneers? Crowns? Lumineers? Bonding? Gum coutouring? How am I able to fill the gap on the sides of my mouth to create a fuller smile? More info and pics of my teeth below (I apologise for the horrible pics). Thank you.

My teeth summary:
None of my teeth are missing
Have a lower back jaw with an overbite
All teeth are fairly crooked and of different sizes (front very big, back very small)
Yellow stained teeth
One front tooth has been infected several times and is severely decayed (grey)

I've been primarily using Colgate Total for awhile now. I like its claim that the effects last "up to 12 hours". Whether that is really true or not, who knows. I usually get the enamel protection variety since I drink a lot of diet soda.

The first and only time I have been "put to sleep" was to get my wisdom teeth taken out. It was the strangest experience, because I literally cannot remember the moment I drifted off when counting backwards from 100. Part of me thinks the process must be similar to losing consciousness permanently (as in death).
