Question What to do with a sharp toothache?

I have a sharp toothache in my upper molar tooth when I chew or bite on that tooth. It does not happen all the time and it usually happens when I eat something or bite any hard foodstuff.

I am worried that my tooth is decaying day by day. I don’t feel constant ache like in an abscess but the tooth is sometimes very sensitive to cold and hot drinks.

I am not sure but I think that recently, my tooth is becoming looser due to this problem. I am concerned that I may have cracked my tooth, although I am not aware of doing that.

When I brush my teeth the gum around the tooth starts to bleed and also smells badly frequently. Could you please advise what I should do with this tooth.

Default What to do with a sharp toothache?

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

The answer to your question is very simple. Go and visit your dentist asap.

However from the the symptoms you have explained it appears that, as you have indicated yourself, the tooth has a fractured cusp. In other words your tooth is cracked or broken in part and every time you exert chewing loads on it the crack open a little and hence the symptoms you experience.

The bleeding gum on brushing refers to your oral hygiene and very likely you need a very good deep clean.
My advice is to see your own dentist asap for further assessment and treatment. We also would be very happy to do this for you and assess the case at Pearl Dental Clinic.
