    Talking Filling has come out

I recently had a filling come out and my neighbor told me to use dental cement which can be bought over the counter. I used it and had great results. I don't see a need to visit the dentist about the issue. Even though the fix is supposed to be temporary is it possible to use it for longer terms? What other dental kits are available?

    Default Filling has come out

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

All of the dental material that are available over the counter have a temporary nature and they are designed to help people in emergency situations. They are not suitable as a permanent solution for the missing filling. The best alternative kit available to you would be to visit your dentist asap to have your tooth assessed and then treated with the aim of having a permanent restoration.

Temporary cements/fillings do not have a good seal with the tooth and they are vulnerable to leakage that over time will result in tooth decay and a much larger problem to fix, not mentioning the additional costs involved.
