My temporary veneers have become discoloured and stained

My dentist is making two new porcelain veneers for my front teeth and whilst they are being made, he has placed two temporary veneers on my front teeth for the time being.

Whilst I was eating dinner last night, I noticed that the temporary veneers became green in colour and later on looked very dark and stained. I am worried that something is happening to the teeth underneath these temporary veneers, although I have no pain from these teeth.

Could you explain, if I should be worried about this or if this is something that is normal? I am not too concerned about the colour of the veneers, because I am getting my dental veneers fitted next week but I am worried about the teeth underneath being adversely affected.

You will need to see a dentist to check these temporary veneers. Temporary veneers can discolour and that is annoying from a cosmetic point of view.

However they can also partially debond and leak underneath allowing bacteria and food to accumulate underneath the temporary veneers and damage the teeth underneath.

If the temprary veneers have partially debonded and are leaking, they will need to be recemented to protect the tooth underneath from damage and prevent sensitivity, fracture and debonding.
